Adoption Procedures
Procedures for Adoption
1. You MUST fill out an adoption application and send it to us. The application is in Word format so you can download it, fill it out, save and email it to us or you can mail it to the address on the Contact us page. We need time to review and check references before you come to visit the parrot you are interested in.
2. There will be a telephone interview before setting an appointment to come and meet the parrot you are interested in. Please be prepared to answer questions about why you want to adopt a parrot and about the care of a parrot. We will also be happy to answer any qustions you have about the parrot you are interested in.
3.You MUST come and meet and interact with the parrot you are interested in. We will NOT ship a parrot under any circumstances. All meetings are by appointment only. If you are going to be more than 30 minutes late for your appointment, please call and let us know. If you need to reschedule, please call as soon as possible.
4. When you come to adopt your new companion, you will need to bring an appropriate sized carrier with you to take them home. We will not adopt out a Macaw to someone who brings a carrier for a Cockatiel.
5. There is an adoption contract that must be signed before the adoption can take place. The adoption fee is paid before you take your new feathered companion home.
6. After you get your new companion home we are always available for any qusetions or help you may need.
