News & Events
Our 2nd Annual Christmas with the Parrots Open House was wonderful. We saw some old friends, met
some new friends and found wonderful homes for 3 of our parrots!
We received a beautiful cage as a donation from a special friend and were thrilled to meet her finally!
Thank you to everyone for sharing part of your Christmas with us and the parrots.
November 14th we had 10 Girl Scouts come to visit. They had made toys for the birds
and were bringing them over. What an amazing group of girls. These were 8th graders and
they were incredible. They really enjoyed seeing and playing with the birds. Quite a few
wanted to adopt birds! They are going to put together a phone book recycling so that
the birds can have more phone books to shred up. We had a question and answer
session and they asked some great questions.
We really enjoyed having them here and the toys were wonderful.
I know the birds are going to love playing with them.

November 5th we are participating in the Chili Cook-off for Charity at the Terrapin Beer Co. It is beins sponsered by the Athens Area Humane Society and PAWS. You can come out and sample chili and beer, take a tour of the brewery and vote for your favorite chili, which we hope will be ours!! The grand prize is $300 for best chili. This would go a long way in Santa bringing each parrot a new toy for Christmas. Come out and join us.

September 10th is Feathered Frenzy day at the Macon Museaum
of Arts & Sciences and we have been invited back.
Dee's Haven Parrot Rescue will be there with our Congo African Grey, Gabby and Harley, the Bare Eyed Cockatoo. We may bring a couple
of the other birds as a surprise.
We'll have fun things for the kids and some great information
on parrot care and how you can help Dee's Haven continue to help these wonderful and deserving parrots.

Christmas with the Parrots 2010
What a wonderful time we had at Christmas with the Parrots Open House. Old friends and new friends braved the weather to celebrate Christmas with the parrots. We had food, great company and wonderful birds.
The Athens Banner Herald did a wonderful front page story on the rescue and Open House.
We want to thank our very generous donors and hope we will get to see you all again.
Thank you for truly making this a great Christmas for some very deserving birds.

Feathered Frenzy at the Macon Museum of Arts & Sciences
Dee's Haven was invited to Feathered Frenzy at the Macon Museum of Arts & Sciences. We took Gabby, the Congo African Grey, Jude, Red Head Amazon and Angie-Lo, the Moluccan Cockatoo. We all had a great time and everyone got a kick out of Angie-Lo hollering hello to everyone. We got to see a live raptor show by the Department of Natural Resources and to see hawks, eagles and owls up close. They were amazing. Thanks to the Museum for inviting us. We look forward to next year.
