HELP NEEDED

We are getting ready to convert our garage into a bird room and build an outdoor storage shed to keep spare cages, playstand and build toys

.

We need help with donated materials (wood, screen material,

metal tubing, etc.)  We have volunteers lined up to help with the labor involved.  We will also need several box type fans and an electric heater for cold weather.

If you can help with donated materials, know someone that is a builder that could help, or could donate a gift card to Lowe's or Home Depot please contact us at 706-599-5631 or 706-599-5634.

We have some wonderful birds for adoption!!  See our Adoptable Birds page.

Dee's Haven is 100% volunteer based and is non-profit

We are a parrot rescue/sanctuary located in Lexington, Georgia, just outside of Athens.

Our main purpose is to find great homes for parrots that need them, to work to rehabilitate parrots that have problems, to help educate the public about the care of parrots and the overwhelming number that are re-homed every day.

We also will be happy to work with you to keep your parrot in your home if there is a way.  The best situation for any bird is to be with his family.

We can also board your parrots for vacation, if you're moving or having any type of problems where you need short term or long term boarding.

At Dee's Haven, the health, well being and happiness of the birds are our first concern.  We are selective about our adoptions and will never knowingly place a bird into a breeding situation.

If you want to adopt, you don't necessarily have to have experience with birds, but you DO have to do your homework--research, know what is involved, and know what you are getting into.  Please, make sure you are willing and able to provide a loving and permanent home before you adopt a parrot.  Be certain you can live with the noise and the mess and possible destruction of your home.  Be sure you are willing to make the commitment to having a parrot in your home and as part of your family.  You will truly never find a better companion.

Right now our biggest needs are:

A backup generator in case of power outage so we

can still have heat for the birds

An outdoor storage building to keep spare cages, etc.

We would like to find a contractor that would be willing to donate material and labor to build an addition for our adoptable birds.

Remember--all donations are tax deductible.

NATIVE AMERICAN POEM

I give you this one thought to keep
I am with you still - I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sunshine on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush,
I am the swift, uplifting rush
of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not think of me as gone-
I am with you still - in each new dawn.

RIP by darling little Casey.
I know you are flying over that rainbow bridge
but you are missed beyond words.

Fly free beautiful Stella.  You were a piece of my heart and will never be forgotten.  You touched me so much in the time you were here with us.  I felt my heart break as I held you and said goodbye, crying that you were leaving us.  Find my little Casey and fly together.  Remember Mama loves you beyond words.
